After a thoughtful renovation, we are thrilled to announce the official reopening of our flagship store in West Village, Detroit! Our boutique stands as a beacon of meticulous curation and environmental consciousness, showcasing primarily independent, women-owned labels committed to reducing their impact on both people and the planet.

Founded in 2020 by Gretchen R. Valade and Kevin Steen, eugenie began its journey in Midtown before finding its new home at 1400 Van Dyke St. in the summer of 2022. What started as a temporary pop-up quickly became a cherished destination for apparel, jewelry, accessories, and personalized styling services from our dedicated team. Our community engagement through block parties, local designer collaborations, and an annual designer grant has further solidified our roots in West Village.

The newly renovated space enhances our commitment to sustainable fashion, combining elegance with ecological mindfulness. Designed by Santa Fe-based architect Owen Maher of Studio SAGARMAHER, the boutique showcases a thoughtfully curated modernist aesthetic. Among its many refined details are exquisite woodwork by GLW, a beautifully curved shelving wall, and an elevated jewelry case all built locally by Russell Development Company. You'll also discover billowy fabrics and niche designer furniture from carefully selected creators across the globe.

Among the many curated moments in the shop stands a gorgeous assortment of show-stoppers, including our beautiful chandelier by Albi Serfaty, mulberry globes by Anna Karlin, ethereal curtains by Rose Tarlow, iron mirrors by Athena Calderone, and luminous milk-glass pendants by Sophie Lou Jacobsen. This global design presence is intentionally balanced by a collection of Detroit-based artworks floating above our signature curved shelving wall, featuring pieces from Carole Harris, Jova Lynn, Margaret Hull, and more.

Through a sharp curatorial eye and conscientious approach to consumption, eugenie has grown into a retail experience that positions designed objects, including apparel, as art rather than commodities. We invite you to come experience a space where sustainability can transcend factory floors, becoming an integral part of the small, everyday moments in our lives.
